At the farmers’ markets over the weekend, the strawberries were ridiculously cheap.  So cheap that I could not resist buying a few punnets and making them into jam.  In the past, I have had some trouble with my strawberry jam setting, so this time I used a sachet of ‘Jam Setta’ which adds pectin – the setting agent naturally found in fruits.  I love giving a jar of jam as a gift when visiting friends or as a small thank you.  The strawberries were at their best stage of ripeness so this jam is deliciously sweet and perfect atop some warm lemonade scones, or a slice of toast and then topped with lashings of parmesan cheese (which, if you haven’t tried, you must – it is a winning combination).
